Repaving Parkway Drive and Rehabilitating Watergate Plaza Bridge, NPS Storage Area Bridge and Inlet Bridge at Ohio Drive
All Project work is complete. No further impact on traffic is anticipated.
The project consists of the rehabilitation of approximately 0.25 miles of Parkway Drive including repairs to the Watergate Plaza Bridge and the NPS Storage Area Bridge, within the National Mall and Memorial Parks. The roadway work includes asphalt pavement milling, Superpave asphalt concrete pavement overlay, exposed aggregate sidewalk repairs, concrete and granite curb repairs, street lighting replacement, and other miscellaneous work. The bridge work includes concrete repairs to the deck and other substructure members, waterproof membrane installation, bridge joint repairs, stone masonry repairs, and other miscellaneous work. Additional work was added to the project and consists on the rehabilitation of Inlet Bridge at Ohio Drive. The roadway work includes asphalt pavement milling, Superpave asphalt concrete pavement overlay, top deck repairs with an overlay of latex modified concrete, and other miscellaneous work.
Traffic Control / Affects to Public
Work will take place overnight, on weekends, but also during daytime, weekday hours. Traffic delays are expected. Motorists and pedestrians will be notified of lane closures through the use of construction signs and variable message boards, which will be posted during the entire construction process.
This project was awarded on March 27, 2015. Major construction began on July 6, 2015. All work was completed by June 24, 2016.
