Description:

The project consists of the rehabilitation of the Kutz Bridge (Independence Avenue Eastbound) within the National Mall and Memorial Parks. The work includes asphalt pavement milling and Superpave asphalt concrete pavement overlay; structural concrete repairs to the bridge deck, piers, and abutments; cleaning and painting of the bridge rail; replacement of granite curb, concrete sidewalk, and steel traffic railing; repairs to the stone masonry; and other miscellaneous work.

Traffic Control / Affects to Public

Work will take place overnight, on weekends, but also during daytime, weekday hours. Traffic delays are expected. Motorists and pedestrians will be notified of lane closures through the use of construction signs and variable message boards, which will be posted during the entire construction process.

Design/Construction Schedule

This project was awarded on March 19, 2015. Construction began April 27, 2015. Project was substantially completed in August 2016.
