Hilea Stream Bridge

Project Overview

The Central Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration in cooperation with the Hawaii Department of Transportation is developing a project located on the Mamalahoa Highway, Route 11, at M.P. 57.7, the Hilea Stream Bridge, on the Island of Hawaii.

A Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) has been prepared pursuant to HRS Chapter 343 (as amended), and Hawaii Administrative Rules Title 11, Chapter 200. The Hilea Stream Bridge is located on the Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), mile post 57.7, in the Kau District. The project would improve the safety and reliability the timber bridge, through rehabilitation or replacement, addressing bridge width, load capacity, bridge railing and transitions.

Construction: Funding has been identified for this project. The project solicitation is planned for issuance in November 2017. Access to the solicitation, when available can be through the Federal Business Opportunities website at www.fbo.gov.

Construction: Funding has been identified for this project. The project solicitation is planned for issuance in October 2017. Access to the solicitation, when available can be through the Federal Business Opportunities website at www.fbo.gov.

Construction: Funding has been identified for this project. The project solicitation is planned for issuance in October 2017. Access to the solicitation, when available can be through the Federal Business Opportunities website at www.fbo.gov.


Update 8/1/17:

Environment: The public comment period for the Draft EA has closed. The final EA FONSI was authorized on March 24, 2017 and is available for download by accessing the All Documents tab on this webpage.

Project Development: The Project 100% plan documents have been completed.

Right of Way: Right of way acquisition is currently underway with affected landowners.

Utilities: Coordination is underway with the utility agencies to prepare agreements for temporary and permanent relocations.
