Catoctin Mountain Park Visitor Bridge Replacement and Blue Blazes Parking Area Reconstruction

Project Description

Replacement of the Visitor Center Bridge and reconstruction of the Blue Blazes Parking Area and drainage work. The project is located on Park Central Road off State Route 77. The existing Bailey-type temporary truss bridge provides vehicle access to a bus and overflow parking area, and is scheduled to be replaced with a permanent structure. Work items include tree removal and replacement, bridge removal, geosynthetic reinforcement, structure excavation, riprap placement, select granular backfill, aggregate base, asphalt concrete pavement, structural concrete, precast, prestressed concrete voided slabs, reinforcing steel, timber bridge railing, high performance concrete bridge deck overlay, split rail fence, rubble stone masonry, concrete masonry units, stone paved waterway, curbs, signing and pavement markings, utilities, and other miscellaneous work.
