Old US60 Bridge

Project Description

The Federal Highway Administration, Central Federal Lands Highway Division (FHWA-CFLHD) proposes to replace the existing bridge with a new bridge that will provide safe and reliable vehicular passage. The existing bridge length is approximately 567 feet with a vertical clearance of 14 feet 0 inches. It was built in 1930 and has been determined eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The location of the new bridge is approximately 35 feet upstream of the existing bridge. The existing bridge will remain in place and will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic by the use of fencing after completion of the new bridge. The structure is expected to be similar in length, but will have a wider deck width of approximately 26 feet. Approximately 1,000 feet of roadway leading to the bridge, in both directions, will need to be constructed to connect the new bridge to the existing roadway alignment.
