Badlands National Park Dillon Pass Embankment Repairs

Project Description

The Project will include repair work on the historic Loop Road at mile post (MP) 24.9 to MP 25, removal of an abandoned culvert, and reconstruction of the roadway embankment. The Project will also include unplugging the culvert at MP 25.0 and completing revegetation efforts on all new construction and disturbed areas within the project limits. Project also comprises 1.2 miles of rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Bigfoot Pass area.

Purpose

The purpose of the project is to stabilize a section of deteriorating roadway to ensure the safety of visitors on this vital transportation corridor. Stabilizing the roadway and slopes adjacent to the roadway will ensure a quality visitor experience, provide a safe transportation corridor, comply with federal highway standards, provide access to the residents and reduce maintenance costs.
