The project consists of the rehabilitation and resurfacing of approximately 1.6 miles of the GWMP from the Interstate 395 interchange to the northern entrance of Ronald Reagan National Airport, including exit/entrance ramps. The work includes asphalt pavement milling, full-depth pavement reconstruction, Superpave asphalt concrete pavement overlay, steel-backed timber guardrail replacement, and other miscellaneous work. Additional work includes guardrail repairs between Spout Run and Route 123/Chain Bridge Road and at Humpback Bridge, and asphalt overlay at Windy Run Bridge and bridge joint repairs at Windy Run and Glebe Road Bridges. 

Traffic Control / Affects to Public

Expect lane closures and night work. When ramps are closed for milling and paving, detours will be provided.

Design/Construction Schedule

This project was awarded on April 27, 2015. Major construction began June 29, 2015, and was completed by December 2015. All project work was completed by July 17, 2016.
