Mount Vernon Trail realignment and reconstruction. Theodore Roosevelt Island Parking Area widening and rehabilitation.

 

All project work is substantially complete. No further impact on traffic is anticipated.

Description:

Work includes removal of asphalt pavement, sidewalks, and curb and gutter in the parking area; trail widening, mill and overlay, trail reconstruction, drinking fountain installation, reconstruction of Theodore Roosevelt Island Bridge Access Area and other miscellaneous work.

Traffic Control / Affects to Public

During construction, expect closures of sections of the Mount Vernon Trail near the parking area. Pedestrians and bicycles are to follow the temporary detours.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times across the parking areas and to the Theodore Roosevelt Island Bridge.

Design/Construction Schedule

This project was awarded on August 25, 2016. Work began March 1, 2017. Project was substantially complete on May 25, 2017.
