Betterments: Examples of Non-Eligibility

The following items, while desirable and eligible for funding from another source, would likely not be eligible for ER funding:

• Adding a passing lane to increase capacity
• Replacing undamaged guardrail to meet current safety standards
• Shifting an alignment to eliminate a dangerous curve
• Adding a rockfall fence to mitigate an on-going hazard

The purpose of the items in this list is NOT to reduce future ER damage. Only the reduction of future ER damage can be used to justify the investment of ER funds to construct the Betterment.
